The 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0 combo chip
from Ralink
Ralink Technology Corporation says its newly launched
RT3290LE, is the world's first and only single chip 802.11n
plus Bluetooth 4.0 solution designed for mobile PCs.
"Ralink is continuing to enable the wireless revolution
with a series of industry firsts and breakthroughs including
the first single chip 802.11n Half MiniCard, the first 802.11n
chip with OptiLink technology for better wireless coverage
and now the first BT4.0 Low Energy certified 11n Bluetooth
combo for the PC market," said Paul Lin, General Manager
of Ralink's Wireless Business Unit. "As wireless connectivity
moves into ever smaller and more varied devices, PCs will
remain the preferred centralized platform for managing and
offering feature support for the new array of specialized
low energy devices. The RT3290LE represents the first chance
for PC makers to begin capitalizing on this opportunity."
The RT3290LE contains all components necessary for both
802.11n and Bluetooth functionality on a single die.
The RT3290LE is capable of WLAN throughput more than 80
percent faster than competing WLAN plus Bluetooth combo
devices for PCs while using less power, claims Ralink.
Ralink Technology Corporation has also announced that its
RT3572 line of single-chip, 2T2R dual-band 802.11n USB Wi-Fi
chips, has been selected for implementation in the Fujitsu
STYLISTIC Q550, a business-class tablet computer designed
for enterprise users.
Ralink's RT3572 chipset operates in the high speed 802.11n
40 MHz channel bandwidth with support for business class
security and networking management features such as Cisco
CCX V5 (Cisco Compatible Extensions Program Version 5) compliance
and Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
"Among all the Wi-Fi vendors Fujitsu evaluated, we
chose Ralink because they were able to offer a solution
that was most closely aligned to our business requirements.
They were willing to listen to us and in the end they brought
to the table a technology solution that was clearly the
superior choice." said Susumu Nikawa, General Manager
of Fujitsu Limited's Personal Systems Business Unit. "We
are pleased to make Ralink our choice in supplying a sector-defining
Wi-Fi solution to the fast growing and dynamic mobile PC
market."
