Open-Silicon ships 100 Millionth ASIC attributing the success to its biz model

Open Silicon said it has shipped 100 millionth of its ASIC in Q1 2015. Open Silicon attributed this shipment milestone success to its OpenMODEL, an end-to-end ASIC development solution which the Open Silicon calls "revolutionary business model" offering low-cost, and low-risk alternative to traditional models.

“With leading edge foundry, various flavors of process technologies, latest packaging technologies and integration of several third party IPs, we have proven our OpenModel approach meets the needs of our customers,” said Asim Salim, Open-Silicon’s Vice President of Manufacturing Operations.

Open-Silicon claims very low DPPM (<40 PPM), on time delivery (OTD) >99% and negligible customer returns. Open Silicon says it has a robust Design For Test (DFT) and Design For Manufacturing (DFM) methodology.

“Our low RMA return is a further validation of our excellence in design engineering. This helps control our costs related to RMA and adds to increased customer satisfaction through delivery of reliable products,” said Jay Vyas, Open-Silicon’s Senior Vice President and CFO.
