Mentor Graphics acquires 3rd EDA company within 12 months

Mentor Graphics to strengthen its capability in mixed signal and silicon-sensor/mems EDA software offerings, by deciding to acquire Tanner EDA, which offers EDA tool called HiPer Silicon for the design, layout and verification of analog, mixed-signal, RF and MEMS ICs. With the electronic industry moving fast in the direction of IOT enabled products, HiPer Silicon in the kitty of Mentor Graphics gives an edge over its competitors in the analog and mixed signal area.

Mentor announced all Tanner EDA products as well as existing AMS products from Mentor will continue to be available and supported.

In the month of January 2015, Mentor Graphics had acquired Flexras Technologies, a developer of timing-driven partitioning technology to cut time required for prototyping, validation, and debug of integrated circuits (ICs) and systems on chip.

In the year 2014, Mentor Graphics had acquired Berkeley Design Automation, whose design software product Analog FastSPICE is quite popular in the industry.

All this tells, Mentor Graphics is also helping the consolidation of the EDA industry just like its competitors Synopsys and cadence, who are the masters of acquiring smaller EDA businesses.
