Tiny automotive 170 MHz crystal oscillators with CMOS output from Epson

Date: 01/06/2022
Seiko Epson has added a new member to its family of crystal oscillators (SPXO) with CMOS output for automotive applications. SG-8201CJA deliver low jitter and small in size measuring 2.0 mm x 1.6 mm x 0.6 mm.

This harsh weather withstanding timing device fits well for electronics systems in autonomous driving (AD), such as light detection and ranging (LiDAR) and vehicle cameras in advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). This device serves as reference clock with a frequency in the 100 MHz range, suitable for systems using high radio frequencies. The high speed electronics in AD and ADAS require clocks delivering very high stability and low jitter. Demand is also said to be strong for smaller products in all automotive applications.

Just like the other members of its family, SG-8101CGA, the new crystal oscillator supports output frequencies to 170 MHz for automotive applications with 50% better frequency tolerance and approximately 1/25th the phase jitter. AEC-Q1004 qualified SG-8201CJA can work upto ambient temperatures up to 125? to withstand extreme heat in automotives.

Industrial version SG-8200CJ and consumer version SG-8201CJ is also available from Epson in samples.
