iWave launches Renesas RZ/G1M based Qseven SOM

Date: 31/01/2016
iWave launches new System-On-Module (SOM) based on Renesas RZ/G1M MPU. RZ/G1M SOM is Qseven R2.0 compatible industrial grade CPU module named as iW-RainboW-G20M. This SOM module supports1GB DDR3 RAM, 4GB eMMC Flash and 2MB SPI NOR Flash with expandable memory options. The module also includes on SOM Gigabit Ethernet PHY, Micro SD slot and USB HUB.

Renesas’s RZ/G1M MPU supports dual cortex A15 core operating at 1.5GHz core and includes64-bit DDR3 interface @ 800MHz which provides higher performance for applications such as image processing of multiple video streams and video sensing. The high-speed on-chip integrated USB 3.0, PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet and SATA peripherals allows easy expansion of functionality without the need for external components.

The RZ/G1M MPU supports full HD hardware encode & decode processing up to 1080@60fps, dual display and three channel video input ports. The built-in PowerVR™SGX544MP2 Graphics core @ 520MHz allows the user to develop highly effective user interfaces.

This iWave and Renesas alliance brings new opportunities to embedded product developers for developing solutions using the RZ/G1M SOM for variety of applications such as infotainment, digital signage, HMI, Smart appliances, Office equipment’s, Industrial automation, POS, ATM, real time image recognition, video surveillance, etc.

The RZ/G1M SOM will be supported Linux 3.10 LTSI in the launch and followed by Android BSP support. To enable quick prototyping of RZ/G1M SOM, iWave systems supports RZ/G1M development kit with comprehensive peripheral support which will help customers to save up to 60% of new product development cycle using the RZ-G1M MPU.

The RZ/G1M SOM Samples will be available from 1Q2015 and the mass production SOMs will be available from 3Q 2015.
