BOM saving tiny RF filter for GP540 and GP561 RF4CE chips

Date: 14/03/2015
STMicroelectronics announced a new dual differential filter DLPF-GP-01D3 which offers a saving up to16 discrete surface-mount components and a space of 35mm2 on a single layer PCB in ZigBee RF4CE1 remotes and devices such as set-top boxes, TVs, home gateways, alarms, and lighting.

DLPF-GP-01D3 is an impedance-matched companion chip for the GP540 and GP561 RF4CE communication controllers. DLPF-GP-01D3 pinning allows short, straight tracks for signal, ground, and common connections between the two devices.

Any unwanted frequencies outside 2400-2500MHz frequency range is highly attenuated by this filter with low in-bandwidth insertion and return loss. DLPF-GP-01D3 uses Integrated Passive Device (IPD) technology with non-conductive glass substrate for higher signal integrity.

11-bump flip-chip packaged DLPF-GP-01D3 measures 1.2mm x 3.4mm footprint, and height of less than 560µm after reflow, making it a very small dual low-pass filter solution on the market, for the GreenPeak GP540 and GP561. The entire filter can now be built in less than 1/10th the pc-board space of a conventional discrete circuit, say ST.

With indicative price of $0.23 for 5000 units, DLPF-GP-01D3 is available immediately
