Infrared receiver offers minimum irradiance of 0.12 mW/m2

Vishay has announced the new small sized infrared receiver for remote control applications in consumer electronics. The new IR receiver with minimum irradiance of 0.12 mW/m2 is available in five AGC versions, a 20 % improvement in sensitivity over the previous versions. This new IR receiver features an improved optical filter against IR 3D TV signals and other noise.

The TSOP361.. and TSOP362.. provide legacy compatibility with all common IR remote control data formats. The TSOP363.. and TSOP364.. are recommended for all remote control applications and suppress spurious pulses from energy-saving lamps and dimmed LCD backlighting, while the TSOP365.. is capable of suppressing even extreme levels of optical noise.

With an improved resistance to ESD and metal shielding against EMI, TSOP36… series IR receivers are optimized for consumer products such as set-top boxes, TVs, audio systems, and digital cameras. To simplify designs, the devices offer a photo detector and preamplifier circuit mounted within a 4-pin epoxy package. Available with taping for top- or side-view use, the devices are insensitive to supply voltage and ripple noise.

The IR receivers are specified for operation from 2.5 V to 5.5 V with a transmission range up to 45 meters, are available for carrier frequencies from 30 kHz to 56 kHz, and offer a low 0.35 mA supply current at 3.3 V. The devices are RoHS-compliant and conform to Vishay “Green” standards.

Samples and production quantities of the new IR receivers are available now, with lead times of three weeks.
