Wireless chip features support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM

Date: 20/08/2013
Newport Media has launched wireless chip NMC3000 featuring multi-mode Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM SoC. The on-chip RF and baseband circuitry supports IEEE 802.11b, g, n-compliant, FM receive, and Bluetooth 4.0 / Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) operation. The NMC3000 is also packed with power amplifiers, switches, memory, audio amplifier and power management circuitry.

“There is a great need in the market for low cost yet highly integrated Wi-Fi combination ICs and the NMC3000 is able to meet this need by leveraging the structural cost advantages found in all NMI SoCs,” said Mohy Abdelgany, president and chief executive officer for Newport Media. “The key innovation in this new chip is the advanced technology employed to manage simultaneous Wi-Fi and Bluetooth operation and interoperability while maintaining an attractive cost structure.”

The NMC3000 is available in 48-pin, 6mm X 6mm quad flat no-lead (QFN), as well as wafer-level chip-scale packages.

Engineering samples are currently available to key customers with volume production scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2014.
