Sigma ramp up the production of its STV7701UHD TV IC
Sigma Designs has increased the production of its STV7701 Ultra HD High Dynamic Range (HDR) TV IC chip and is also shipping in volumes to its customers. Sigma Designs claims STV7701 is the only product shipping in the market today that supports multiple HDR standards including HDR 10, BD UHD, and Dolby Vision. The new UHD SoC features software optimized for over-the-top (OTT) video streaming services with and a broad range of advanced capabilities for premium Smart TV offerings. STV7701 together with a companion Ultra HD FRC chip can provide an ideal solution for UHD 120Hz Smart TV, suggests Sigma Designs.
High Dynamic Range is called as “third pillar of image quality” supporting higher brightness and color control that the human eye is capable of perceiving. Human eyes can sense 3x brightness change and double the color content than today’s UHD televisions.
