STM32 MCU chip used in smart lock by August

STMicroelectronics said August smart lock is designed using ST's popular STM32 microcontroller. August Smart Lock allows its users to access to their home’s door lock from a smartphone or computer without need of any physical key instead it uses virtual e-key.

Interesting features in August smart is Auto-unlock and autolock, where the door get unlocked and locked as you getting near the door (unlock) and getting away (lock). Company says it only takes 10 minutes to install the lock and does not require any exterior door hardware.

“Over the past two years, we have worked to make the August Smart Lock the most intelligent and secure way for consumers to manage access to their homes. Our lock installs in less than ten minutes and allows users to send a virtual key to anyone they choose via the iOS and Android mobile app,” said Jason Johnson, co-founder and CEO of August. “The STM32 microcontroller is flawless in its ability to deliver the most secure signal processing and responsiveness, ensuring August’s functionality and reliability.”

The August Smart Lock is sold in Apple stores and online at store.apple.com and august.com for $249.99.
