Mediatek octa-core SOC powered 4G LTE phones in India

Taiwan-based fast-growing fabless mobile phone SOC chip maker MediaTek is focusing on Indian smart phone market. It has already sold hundreds of millions of smartphone SOC chips to Asian smart phone OEMs, which also includes Indian smart phone brands such as Micromax and Karbonn.

Smart phones powered by Mediatek's latest octa core chip MT6595 supporting 4G LTE which includes TDD LTE are expected in the Indian market by end of 2014. Mediatek is attempting to enter what it calls premium smart phone space.

Mediatek not only selling its SoC chips to Indian smart phone brands but is also expanding its development office in India. It already has a office in Noida, and has open a office in Bangalore, where it is planning to hire 100s of electronics engineers and software developers.
