STM32Cube dev platform supports STM32 F2 120MHz MCUs

Date: 02/04/2014
STMicroelectronics has released a further set of middleware for its STM32Cube development platform announced in February, allowing developers to target STM32 F2 120MHz ARM Cortex-M3 microcontrollers. The STM32Cube is currently available for the STM32 F2 and F4 series and further releases will roll out during 2014, extending support to all STM32 devices.

The new middleware, when combined with the generic low-level drivers and Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) of the STM32Cube platform, provides a ready-to-use library of automatically updated software components that streamlines application development and eliminates version and dependency issues. The HAL promotes code portability, helping developers to target the best STM32 device for each application.

The STM32CubeMX graphical configuration tool complements the new dedicated STM32 F2 middleware by helping developers quickly generate initialization code for their applications. Wizards help assign pins, clocks and resources to avoid conflicts, and the tool generates code for popular independent development tools.

For maximum accessibility and ease of use, STM32Cube is available free of charge and provides user-friendly software licenses, either as open-source software or software delivered and supported by ST. Over 150 usage examples are included, targeting STM32 evaluation.
