'IGNITE 2012' a design contest launched by Tata Elxsi for Indian students

Tata Elxsi has launched the design contest 'IGNITE 2012' that tries to provide a platform for future designers to develop ideas that will reshape the future. The contest is a part of an annual event 'connect D' organised by Tata Elxsi to commemorate the World Industrial Design Day.

The theme of the contest is 'Designing for Emerging Markets'. It intends to address how design can provide innovative solutions to address the inherent challenges and opportunities that exist amongst developing economies of the world.

Design students pursuing their full-time Graduate / PG courses can participate in the contest. Students can submit their entries in any of the two design disciplines of Product Design and Visual Design across the Healthcare, Interactive Devices and Bottom of the Pyramid categories.

Winners (1 from Product Design and 1 from Visual Design) will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.25, 000 each along with a certificate from Tata Elxsi during the next connect D event which will be held on June 29, 2012. The winners will also get a chance to pursue an internship at Tata Elxsi as part of their course curriculum.

Nick Talbot, global design head, Tata Elxsi said, "We are excited to launch 'IGNITE 2012'. As a leading design house, Tata Elxsi has always remained at the forefront of innovation. We strongly believe that this will provide the ideal platform to nurture, develop and promote young talent in the country. This contest will help students leverage their creativity and we look forward to innovative and indigenous ideas from them especially for an emerging market like India", he added.

Aspiring design students in India can submit their entries by June 20, 2012.
