Xilinx FPGA chip with ARM cortex A9 wins product of the year award at Electrons d'Or in Paris

French electronics industry's annual Electrons d'Or award selects the Zynq-7000 Extensible Processing Platform (EPP) from Xilinx as product of the Year. Zynq-7000 family semiconductor devices pack ARM dual-core Cortex-A9 MPCore processor cores with 28nm programmable logic.

"The standard of products was extremely high this year and we are delighted to announce Xilinx as a winner of a prestigious Electrons d'Or award," said Francois Gauthier, Editor in Chief of ElectroniqueS. "What really made the Zynq-7000 Extensible Processing Platform stand out from other shortlisted products was its unique merging of silicon hardware to deliver a variety of benefits architected specifically for high-end embedded applications."

"This is a fantastic accomplishment and one we are extremely proud of, especially as Xilinx is the only company to currently offer the reality of a processor tightly coupled with an FPGA on the same die," said Lawrence Getman, Vice President of Processing Platforms. "The tight integration of the processing system with the programmable logic not only effectively reduces system bill of materials, power, and size, but serves as an 'innovation engine' to drive innovative applications and significantly expand the markets being served by traditional FPGA approaches to embedded systems."
