SiTime Shipped 50 M units of its MEMS-based frequency devices

SiTime Corporation has announced it has shipped 50 million units of MEMS-based Oscillators, Clock Generators and Resonators.

"The Silicon MEMS timing market is growing at a CAGR of 66.4% per year from 2011-2016. This growth is being driven by electronics companies who are adopting MEMS technology at the expense of legacy quartz products," said Laurent Robin, MEMS Analyst, Yole Developpement. "SiTime is the unquestioned leader in this rapidly growing market and had 85% share in 2010."

"In the past year, SiTime has shipped more units than our combined shipments in our first five years of existence. This acceleration is made possible by rapid customer adoption of our Silicon-based products and our unmatched expertise in MEMS, high-performance analog and high-volume manufacturing," said Rajesh Vashist, CEO of SiTime. "Modern electronics uses 3-5 timing devices per system and that number is growing, driven by increasing system complexity and convergence. SiTime has the broadest timing product portfolio and is in the best position to capture this growth in the timing market."

SiTime's lists some its achievements:

The first MEMS VCXO (Voltage Controlled MEMS Oscillator) with femto-second jitter performance and ten times better pull range and linearity than quartz, suitable for telecom, networking and embedded applications.
The first MEMS oscillator platform (Encore) to enable TCXO and OCXO performance
The first programmable clock generator with integrated resonator that offers LVCMOS and differential outputs in a single package, which reduces board area by up to 66%.
The lowest power programmable oscillator in the industry.
The world's thinnest timing device, the SiT8003XT, which is usable in SIM cards and SmartCards.
