AMCC RAID controllers are used in Boston's SAN storage product

AMCC is the supplier of SATA RAID controllers for Boston's high-density iGloo 24T-StorMagic IP SAN product.

Targeted at small and medium businesses, the Boston 24T-StorMagic IP SAN is a 24TB iSCSI-based storage solution that allows users to store, share, manage and protect business-critical data from a single interface.
The key technical specs of this rack mount storage product are,

1.  Supermicro X7DVL-E motherboard
2.  1.6GHz Xeon 5110
3.  8GB 667MHz FB-DIMM
4.  AMCC 3ware 9650SE-24M8 SATA RAID PCI-E card with 512MB cache supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10,      50 with optional battery backed cache
5.  24 x 1TB Hitachi Ultrastar SATA/3Gb/sec hard disks
6.  Under 2 x gigabit Ethernet
7.  Optional 10GbE and Fibre Channel Connectivity

Ron Macleod, Sales Director EMEA at AMCC/3ware explains that this controller pushes AMCC's established leadership in RAID controller performance to new heights. He says, "While 3ware controllers continue to lead the market in RAID 5 performance, the 3ware 9650SE outshines the competition when it comes to RAID 6 performance, delivering over 800MB/s RAID 6 reads and 600MB/s RAID 6 writes."

Neil Kalsi, Sales Manager at Boston, says, "SMBs have much less tolerance to technology complexity than large enterprises which is why IP SANs, leveraging SATA storage, offer such a compelling option. Working with quality brands like 3ware we're able to deliver high-density, high-performance solutions at a competitive price, a particularly important requirement in the tough economic times that lie ahead."
