Dell and HP adopt Broadcom technology
to remotely manage enterprise PC network
Broadcom Corporation's NetXtreme BCM5761 Gigabit Ethernet
(GbE) controller is based on TruManage technology are adopted
by Dell and HP in their PCs. Through these Ethernet controllers
IC the PCs can be remotely managed to configure them in
energy saving modes.
Dell and HP have used these devices and technologies in
their systems to securely manage them from one terminal.
BCM5761 GbE controller supports DASH (Desktop and Mobile
Architecture for System Hardware) and the PMCI (Platform
Management Component Intercommunication) protocols to manage
PCs from different manufacturers across multiple locations
using a common framework and tools. Some of the interesting
features includes, software updates and security patches
can be deployed during 'off-peak' hours to minimize user
downtime while providing support for common features such
as remote power, boot control and system status monitoring.
