ZTE designs packet-based multiservice bearer platform using Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs

Xilinx, Inc. has announced that ZTE Corp., has designed its packet-based multiservice bearer platform using Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs, enabling 100G Ethernet service deployment.

ZTE cites superior Virtex-6 FPGA performance, low power consumption and flexibility as key contributors to its success in getting to market in record time to establish a technology lead in the fiercely competitive market for carrier, enterprise and data center network solutions, according to Xilinx.

"As cloud computing, mobile Internet and high-definition services drive global demand for steep increases in data bandwidth, ZTE is commanding a market and technology edge over our rivals in next-generation, ultra-high-speed routing," said Zhai HongJian, director of the IPTN hardware department at ZTE Corp. "Like ZTE, Xilinx has a proven track record of technology innovation. Virtex-6 met the stringent performance and power specification for our IPTN design, while delivering a level of flexibility that will enable our customers to quickly and easily address evolving standards and deploy new services. Looking ahead, our design teams are excited about the tremendous potential for ZTE as an early adopter of Xilinx 28nm 7 series FPGAs."

Xilinx, Inc. has also announced that EIZO NANAO CORPORATION has designed Xilinx Spartan6 FPGAs into its 23-inch EIZO FORIS FS2332 color LCD (liquid crystal display) monitors for home entertainment. Xilinx says it is the first model to incorporate EIZO's proprietary Smart Resolution technology, which analyzes and adjusts imagery in real time to deliver higher resolution, more natural images.

The FORIS FS2332 is the successor to the FORIS FS2331, a previous model in the FORIS range of LCD home entertainment monitors. The new monitor features a 23-inch high-resolution, full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) LCD panel with a non-glare IPS (in-plane switching) panel with a wide viewing angle, 10-bit gamma correction, approximately 16.77 million full-color display combined with an energy-saving LED backlight, and dual HDMI inputs for connecting up to four devices at once.
