Bluetooth remote control ref design supports touch mems, and microphone I/ps
Programmable radio on chip based reference design kit for developing Bluetooth low energy based remote control and also touch mouse is offered by Cypress Semiconductor. CY5672 PRoC BLE Remote Control reference design and CY5682 PRoC BLE Touch Mouse reference design is based on 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 core supports capacitive touch-sensing functionality. Cypress also provides easy-to-use GUI-based PSoC Creator IDE and CySmart BLE emulation tool for quickly developing.
Cypress is demonstrating both reference designs at the Computex 2015 trade show from June 2-6 at booth N1213 in the Nangang Hall 4F at the World Trade Center in Taipei, Taiwan.
Jayant Somani, senior director of Bluetooth Low Energy products at Cypress says these reference designs are production-ready so that companies can quickly bring a Bluetooth Smart product to market.
CY5672 PRoC BLE Remote Control reference design kit supports a 2-inch trackpad to detect touch gestures and integrates a microphone to enable voice -based commands using voice recognition applications. For gaming and such motion-based controls, this reference design integrates a 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope. When it comes to battery life, Cypress says CY5672 offers one-year of battery life with a Bluetooth signal range of 30 feet. Another cost saving feature is it takes lesser external components compared to other in the market according to Cypress.
The touch mouse reference design CY5682 PRoC supports Windows 8.1, MacOS, Android and Chrome operating systems. Buttons are provided as common user interface shortcut for Windows 8 and 8.1., and also support Microsoft touch gestures. This reference design kit lasts one year of battery life.
The firmware is provided for these reference designs. The kits also include a USB dongle to emulate a Bluetooth Low Energy host.
