Hardware monitoring IC chip supports PECI
3.0 interface
Nuvoton Technology Corp. has launched a new discrete Hardware
Monitoring device -- NCT7802Y to support the Intel PECI
3.0 (Platform Environment Control Interface) specification,
and provides accurate voltage and temperature monitoring,
patented SMART FAN IV fan control algorithms and advanced
system protection mechanisms to ensure efficiency and reliability
of Industrial PC or Thin Client system in applications such
as desktop, notebooks, servers, VGA cards, projectors, and
game console apps.
As explained by Nuvoton NCT7802Y consists of an internal
10-bit ADC is built inside it, to convert the monitored
temperature into accurate in ±1? values and the remote
inputs can be connected to CPU/GPU thermal diode or any
thermal diode sensors and thermistor, moreover, it can get
latest Intel CPU temperature directly via Intel PECI3.0
interface. Along with temperature and voltage sensors, it
monitors up to 3 fan inputs and control 3 fan outputs (DC
or PWM mode) by SMART FAN IV mode or Manual mode. The SMART
FAN IV of NCT7802Y supports multi-zoned linear temperatures
and fan speed mapping with hysteresis, to provide an easy
method to implement quiet and cooling solution with maximum
safety and flexibility says Nuvoton.
Nuvoton says the NCT7802Y implements an array of system
alert features; there are several pure hardware event pinssuch
as ALERT#, T_CRIT#, and RESET #, SMI # and BEEP alarm signals,
and all threshold values could be set for immediately activating
system protection and several SMBus addresses could be set
for flexible system design.
Nuvoton's Hardware Monitoring IC solutions continue to
be customer's primary choice. As the system hardware's first
protection role, the Nuvoton Hardware Monitoring ICs series
always integrate the most important and up-to-date hardware
monitoring functions, also perfect the system stability
and overall functionalities with excellent quality, efficiency.
