Cosmic Circuits M-PHY silicon proven in 40nm

Cosmic Circuits has made available of its latest silicon-proven MIPI Alliance M-PHYSM solution in 40nm. M-PHY supports both the HS-G1 (1.5Gbps) and HS-G2 (3Gbps) modes and is suited for usage in current and future applications such as DigRFSMv4, LLI and UniProSM (Unified Protocol that will form the basis for CSI-3 and UFS).

The IP is supporting both the SYS and PWM modes of low-speed operation makes it a universal PHY, provides wide-spread usage and the need for multiple configurations, the implementation of the IP has been kept modular. The transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) blocks are modularized while the bandgap; PLL and regulators are integrated into a common block. Such a modular approach enables rapid customization for any configuration. Bearing in mind the data-width requirements of the controllers, the PPI (PHY Protocol Interface) interface of each sub-link (TX /RX) supports 40, 20 or 10-bit bus widths ensuring compatibility with the different controllers and applications as per Cosmic Circuits.

"We are very happy that Cosmic Circuits has been able to validate their M-PHY on silicon and are extending their roadmap to several other process nodes", said Joel Huloux, Chairman of the Board of MIPI Alliance.

The Director of IP of Cosmic Circuits, Sundararajan Krishnan, commented that "We are contributor members with MIPI Alliance and are committed to providing MIPI solutions in various technology nodes. We also work closely with our controller partners to provide our customers with a complete (PHY + controller) solution. Our MIPI solutions are getting integrated into the SoC's of leading fabless companies around the world and we expect to see increased adoption of our solutions as we continue to expand our portfolio. Application boards with the Cosmic Circuits M-PHY test-chip and the controller on FPGA are available upon request to select customers."
