8-Channel analog multiplexer for mil/aerospace applications

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has expanded its family of MIL-PRF-38535-screened analog switches and multiplexers with the release of the hi-rel DG408, an 8-channel, single-ended analog multiplexer.

In June 2010, the Vishay Siliconix facility in Santa Clara, Calif. was re-qualified by DSCC to manufacture analog switches and multiplexers with screening to MIL-PRF-38535. The MIL-PRF-38535 specification is a standard that establishes the performance, quality, and reliability requirements for IC components used in systems being built for military and critical avionic applications.

The hi-rel DG408 joins the previously released DG409 as products manufactured under this new certification. Designed to connect one of eight inputs to a common output determined by a 3-bit binary address, the new DG408 is optimized for high-speed data acquisition, audio signal routing, and battery powered and remote instrumentation.

The device features a 44 V maximum supply rating, low on-resistance of 100 ?, and low charge injection of 20 pC. The DG408's enable pin allows multiple devices to be used together to increase the number of input signals in an application.

Three military package options are available: the 16-pin CerDIP (DSCC# 5962-9204201MEA), the 20-pin LCC (DSCC# 5962-9204201M2A and 5962-9204201M2C), and the 16-pin Flat-Pack (DSCC# 5962-9204201MXA and 5962-9204201MXC).

Vishay's additional hi-rel capabilities include Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group E testing. In addition, Vishay Siliconix continues to offer source-controlled drawing capabilities to allow space and avionic-level screening.

The Vishay facility in Santa Clara also is in the process of becoming qualified for military MOSFETs. All Vishay Siliconix hi-rel MOSFETs and IC products are manufactured in the Santa Clara fab, and conform to the most stringent reliability requirements in the industry. Vishay has long-term relationships with virtually all of the distributors serving hi-rel markets.

Samples and production quantities of the hi-rel DG408 multiplexers in the 16-pin CerDIP (DG408AK) are available now, with lead times of 20 weeks for larger orders. Sample and production quantities of devices in the 20-pin LCC (DG408AZ) and 16-pin Flat-Pack (DG408AL) will be available in Q2 2011.
